Facilitating a League (Scramble) IPA 2026
Note: The IPA is not responsible for planning, scheduling, or monitoring league activity. These duties are the responsibilities of the league captain.
Simple Competition
The easiest type of league play follows a one day competition with ladder rotation (winners go to the “up” court, losers go to the “down” court). This competition is typically set up on playtime scheduler by authorized schedulers. Players fill sessions and waitlists on a first come basis.
If you would like additional ladder sessions for your courts during IPA time, contact the scheduler for your area (see below).
Long-term Competition
Establishing a list of players
- For leagues during IPA scheduled court time, the competition must be open to all members in the skill level. A first come sign up basis will determine players.
- Outside of IPA court time, the captain determines the players to be included.
- A list of substitute players is ideal to maintain full rosters.
Establishing court times
- During IPA scheduled times, request date and play time from the court scheduler for your area (see below).
- Outside of IPA scheduled times, a community’s recreation department or its website should be consulted should any court issues arise.
- A captain may use playtime scheduler, using the invite option for the included players.
Establishing rules for play
- The standard format for play is concurrent games with players rotating after all games are completed or a set time has been reached.
- Random partners are typically selected. A few examples of random selection of players can be found in the attachments for simple and long term competition.
Tracking progress
- Short term player tracking and random selection of players can be done with this spreadsheet:12 player 3 court scramble
- Long term tracking of player progress can be done manually by keeping track of weekly scores or by using a simplified spreadsheet. Contact Pogo if you desire a long term spreadsheet to track player progression.
